Can anyone please enlighten me about the following points.
4. What does Ddu mean when it appear after a place name?
5. What does Glan Wye mean when added to the name of a farm, Noyadd.
(Which is close to the river Wye.) If a house is called Glanwy does that
have a different meaning?

Dear Bob,
4. 'Ddu' (pronounced "thee") means 'black or dark'.
5. 'Glan' means river bank "Glan Wye" is a mixture of Welsh (glan) and
English (Wye) - meaning "the bank of the Wye". The correct Welsh name
for the River Wye is Afon Gwy.
'Noyadd' is a misspelling of 'Neuadd' meaning 'hall' (large
house).
The Welsh word 'glanwy' means 'the bank of the Wye'.
Kind regards,
John
