The marriage cert I have just received states that my 2x great
grandfather was married on 7 June 1841 at the Parish Church in Vaynor.
It gives Cefn Ucha as the address for both the bride and groom. The
next step in my research would be to access the 1841 Brecon census to
see if he is listed. The problem is that the only place I have found
that holds the microfilm/fiche for the 1841 census is the Brecon area
library and I live in the U.S. I would appreciate advice on how to
solve this problem. Thank you . . . Judith

Dear Judith,
By coincidence, the 1841 census was taken on the night of 6th June 1841,
the night before the wedding!
I believe an indexed version of the 1841 census for Vaynor (BRE) is
available for study at Merthyr Tydfil Public Library. Contact the
library at library(a)merthyrgov.btinternet.com The local history
librarian, Mrs Carolyn Jacob, is extremely helpful.
Cefn Ucha (Upper Cefn) is not mentioned in the 1881 census, but there
are a number of entries for Cefn Isaf (Lower Cefn). I suspect Cefn Ucha
was located in the upper part of what is now Cefn Coed-y-Cymer.
Kind regards
John
