Hi Lesley
An Annuity is not necessarily a pension, it is an annual payment sometimes
paid for a fixed number of years and sometimes for life. Thus if a child is
living with a family other than his own, for whatever reason, the family,
through the child, could be receiving a sum of money annually for his upkeep
etc. It could be that the child was an orphan who had been left money but
would not receive his actual inheritance until he reached a specified age
but that an annual sum would be paid, perhaps through the Executors of a
Will until he reached that age.

I am aware that a person listed in a census as an annuitant would probably
be someone in receipt of a pension or money to enable them to live, but
would this also apply to a 14 year old child living with a family who wasn't
their own?
Has anyone come across this before?

And they there is no such thing as a sixth sense! I had an idea that Vera
may reply to this one. Thank you Vera for your excellent explanation.
