Nora,
Presumably, when you used the word, "Certificates", when referring to the
marriage of Lewis Price to Hannah Turner and the baptism of their son,
Robert, you actually mean copies of the marriage entry (from the PR or
Bishop's Transcript). "Certificates" can only be obtained for events from
July 1837, the advent of Civil Registration.
The lack of additional details for the death (actually, burial entry, I
assume) of Lewis Price is also due to the fact that it occurred prior to
Civil Registration when the Registrar would've been provided the relevant
information, although Lewis' wife's name would not have been included in the
form unless she was the informant, even after Civil Registration began. Did
Lewis' burial entry state his residence?
Have you looked for a possible will of Lewis Price? If you're fortunate, he
left a will and actually named his wife and children. There may be clues as
to where he may have come from, originally, in order for you to look for his
baptism, but this is unlikely, really, unless he has named brothers,
sisters, or other family members and also names their residences.
Did the marriage entry for Hannah's 2nd marriage provide her maiden name or
just "Hannah Price, Widow, of this Parish"? Was her residence given?
Unfortunately, even the marriage of their son, Robert, took place prior to
July 1837, so no father's name connecting them in that entry. Who was
Margaret Price? Was she a daughter from either of Hannah's marriages? You
may have to research each child of Hannah & Lewis (if there were more
children) in hopes that they had later connections with their father's
family (i.e., finding a paternal relative living with them in a census
return which indicates that relative's birthplace).
One more suggestion -- it was (and still is, in some places) the custom in
Wales for a woman to be buried with her *first* husband, even though she had
remarried. Have you found Lewis' grave in Llanigon? Have you found
Hannah's grave?
Have you discounted the possibility already that Lewis may have been from
Llanigon or Bristol originally by going through the baptisms for likely
entries in those parishes?

Julie Preston

Dear Listers,
Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction for further
research.
Lewis Price married Hannah Turner in Bristol 1809. Their son Robert was
born there in 1810. (Certificates)
Robert married Mary Williams from Clifford, HER, in Llanigon 1835 and
lived in Llanigon. ( LDS film)
Hannah Turner remarried in 1822 in Llanigon to a David Price from Clodock.
They are on the 1841 census living at Noyadd Newydd, Llanigon along with a
Margaret Price.
I have found a death for Lewis Price, in August 1814, in Llanigon.
I have obtained copies of both the marriage of Hannah and the death of
Lewis, from the National Library, but no details are given other then
dates and age. Where do I go for more information? I want to find out if
this is my Lewis and if so find his birth and parents.
Regards
Nora
