Hi
I live a mile from Maesycymmer and the viaduct doesn't connect it to Fleur-de-lis
(called "Flower" locally). It runs between Hengoed and Maesycymmer.
there are two local photo books available:
"Maesycwmmer - The Hidden Landscape" by Whitney Jones. pub by Maesycwmmer
Community Council 1989.
"Ystrad Mynach in Old Photographs including Hengoed, Maesycwmmer and Cefn
Hengoed" by Maldwyn Griffiths (my neighbour) and Richard Herold. pub by Bakehouse
Publications 2001
Mike MacSorley
Powys FHS, Glam FHS, Gwent FHS, Glos FHS.

Hi, Fleur-de-lys and Maesycwmmer are two different villages and parishes,
a viaduct separates them. Fleur-de-Lys is in the Old County of
Monmouthshire and Maesycwmmer Glamorgan. The records of Fleur-de-Lys are
held at Cwmbran Record Office. -

Subject: [POWYS] Relationship between Fleur-de-Lys and Maesycwmmer
What is the relationship between Fleur-de-Lis and Maesycwmmer?
I've
seen it written Fleur-de-Lis, Maesycwmmer in several places. Has this area
belonged to different parishes etc. through the years?
Thanks,
Melanie Tucker
