Thanks for your speedy reply Nicola!
I had no info on the Hamer family so that's terrific thank you! I have
somewhere to start now. I must say, the repeating of the same surnames, but
of different branches, makes things tricky - lots of Davies and Edwards in
my lot! Are those wills available on Ancestry Nicola?
Sharon
Hi Sharon
I have the Edwards family of Cyll in a distant branch of my family tree.
I make Richard Edwards (abt 1808 Trefeglwys - 1878 Cyll) who married Eleanor
Hamer (Abt 1806 Llangurig - 1886 Cyll) the son of Edward Edwards (Abt
1771-1855 Cyll). Edward Edwards is named in the will of his son in law
Zacharias Davies (1781-1838 Cyffiau, Trefeglwys) probated 1839.
I make Eleanor Hamer the dau of Henry Hamer of Delfarch, Llangurig (I have
not sourced my reasons for this adequately) and Ann Lewis (1766 Llangurig -
). Ann Lewis was the dau of Richard Lewis (-1804) by his first wife Mary
(-1769). He left a will as did his second wife Elinor ( - 1823
Bontrhydgaled, Llangurig). In her will Elinor leaves a bequest to Ann the
wife of Henry Hamer. At first "my" had been written into the will but was
then crossed out. This is clearly because Ann was a step daughter, not a
daughter, though she had been under 10 when her father remarried.
Hope that's useful
Nicola
