From my pickings there are at least two Latham families in the area.
There is one in Trefonen, near Llanymynech from Lancs., but the name can
be found in county back many generations.

I believe that I may have had a GG Aunt named Rosina A SANKEY, who
married George Frederick Albert LATHAM in 1888. My great grandfather, Samuel Sankey, on
his 1918 return from West Africa where he was both in the army and working on the railways
gave his intended UK destination as Llanymynech and I see from probate records that that
is where George and Rosina lived (Sunnyside, Arddleen, Llandrinio to be precise). I am
guessing Samuel was going to visit his sister. The fact that intrigues me is that although
he was born Samuel Sankey, from at least 1916 (the year of GFA Latham´s death) he is known
as Samuel Latham Sankey. Why would he have adopted the name? I believe there are still
Lathams in the Llanymynech area but don´t know whether they are related.
