John
Looking forward to the list of names. My family was from the Bwlch area, and could
possibility be one of the interred.
Greetings from the USA, Northwest Pacific coast.

Dear Listers,
The weather cleared up this afternoon, so I made the planned trip to Penuel
Chapel at Bwlch and took some photos. Tomorrow I'll post a list of the names
and burial year of each person interred in the graves whose headstones are
to be removed.
Kind regards,
John

Dear Listers,
Further to my earlier message on this subject, I thought some of you might
be interested in learning more about the Act of Parliament to which the
Public Notice referred.
Its correct title is the "Disused Burial Grounds (Amendment) Act 1981" and
it is available online for inspection or for downloading as a PDF document
at:
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/18/contents
As far as I can determine, the relevant part of the document is Section 2
(page 6) "DISPOSAL OF HUMAN REMAINS AND TOMBSTONES, MONUMENTS OR OTHER
MEMORIALS"
The purpose of the Amendment is "to enable building to take place on certain
disused burial grounds with appropriate safeguards; and for purposes
connected therewith".
The 1981 Act is an amendment to the Disused Burial Grounds Act 1884. The
original Disused Burial Grounds Act 1884 is also available online for
inspection or for downloading as a PDF document at:
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Vict/47-48/72
At the moment (10:52 AM on Wednesday 16 Oct 2013) it is chucking it down
with rain here in Brecon, so it looks as if I'll have to delay visiting the
chapel graveyard until tomorrow!
Regards,
John
