Dear Listers,
Many of you will know of the invaluable Historical Directories website for
trade directories, operated by Leicester University.
Historical Directories is moving to a new site, which combines the
historical directories database with other features to create a more
comprehensive resource called 'Special Collections Online'.
Follow the link below for more information:
www2.le.ac.uk/library/find/rarebooksandarchives/specialcollections/historical-directories
Note: If wordwrapping splits the above URL onto two lines, use the following
link instead:
http://tinyurl.com/nh58xq9
Thus far, I've only made a preliminary exploration of the new website, but
one improvement I've already noticed is that you can now download the entire
directory you are viewing and save it as a PDF file.
The previous version of Historical Directories will remain available for a
limited period at its old address:
www.historicaldirectories.org
The website designers invite us to try out the new facility and provide
feedback on the experience.
Kind regards,
John
