Hi Martin, cousin Shirley et al,
Many thanks for your suggestions however after speaking my elderly aunt she
says that her father (my grandfather) had not been a soldier but she thought
he could have been in the Home Guard. I know that is incorrect as it
wasn't formed until around 1940 but I am now wondering after looking at the
photograph for clues if he was in the Territorial Force which was renamed
the Territorial Army some time after the First World War. I have assumed
that the photograph related to the War but of course I now realise that this
may not be so if my grandfather joined the Territorial Force
I would be interested to hear if anyone has any information on the
Territorial Force in the Llangurig, Montgomeryshire area or Llananno,
Radnorshire during the First World War or where I may be able to search.
Regards,
Margaret

I think the CWGC only hold information on those killed in the
services.
For information on others you have to go the National Archives or the
services themselves.

If you have the regimental museum anywhere near then it is worth asking
there as they also usually have some records of their own. I was able to
follow my Great Grandfather's record in the library at the regimental
museum
which luckily was near to where I live.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your reply. I have used the Commonwealth War Graves
successfully
in the past when I looked for the name of my great uncle but I
thought it
was just for those who had died and my grandfather survived. I will
however, take another look at it.

Margaret H.
