Shirley,
The online LDS IGI
www.familysearch.org shows a christening that would be worth following
up:
Edward
Male
25 Sept. 1768
Westbury, Shropshire, England
Father: Thomas Gardiner
Mother: Hesther
Source: LDS Film #0166168
Batch: P19061 (Extracted birth or christenings)
(Appears to have come from a book of the Registers of Westbury & Pontesbury,
Shropshire.)
The same couple appear to have had another son earlier in Worthen:
Thomas
Male
14 Feb. 1764
Worthen, Shropshire, England
Father: Thomas Gardner
Mother: Hester Munslow
Going a step further, there's also a christening for a likely Thomas GARDINER in
nearby Pontesbury:
Thomas
Male
22 August 1734
Pontesbury, Shropshire, England
Father: Edward Gardiner
Mother: Sarah
And a marriage, although no source cited (record submitted by a member of the LDS church)
so corroboration will be needed through the original PR or Bishop's Transcripts --
perhaps Shropshire FHS have published some of these:
Thomas Gardner
Hester Munslow
13 May 1763
Worthen, Shropshire, England
A christening for Hester:
Hester
Female
08 April 1735
Worthen, Shropshire, England
Father: Reginald Munslow
Mother: Margaret
Source: LDS Film #0166167, Registers of Worthen 1558-1812
There's a great concentration of the surname GARDNER/GARDINER in Shropshire -- have a
look at the online IGI and input just the surname, no dates, and British Isles, England,
Shropshire, and look for other children of Thomas & Hester (probably in various
parishes as they seemed to have moved around a bit).
Just a word of caution -- the IGI is only a tool -- always obtain the original entries
where possible.

Julie Preston

Subject: EDWARD GARDINER born about 1764
Hi
Could anyone help me please to find EDWARD GARDINER Born About 1764 .
On a Family Group Record his birthplace was Chirbury, Shropshire, but I have
since bought the microfiche Parish Registers of Chirbury and he was
definately not born in Chirbury, but his wife Sarah Owens and all their children were.
If he could be found I would be very grateful indeed.
CHIRBURY called in Welsh - LLANFYNNONWEN - does that mean it was in
Montgomeryshire once?
I will also post this request to the border counties of Wales -
Many thanks
Shirley
