Lesley..
Llanwrthwl is it's own parish as well as a village. The
parish registers prior to 1813 were supposedly lost though I do have
transcriptions of the Bt's from the early 1700's. Llanddew is parish
and village just around 2 miles or so north of Brecon and not close to
Llanwrthwl or Llanafan. Llanddew has one of the oldest churches in
Breconshire and was mentioned by Giraldus Cambrensis in his travelogues
of the 12th century.
Cwmwhefru is a valley in Llanafan Fawr as well as a farm but is now in
modern days a holiday community with holiday chalets rented out to
visitors who want to relax in the quiet splendour of the Chwefru valley.

Good evening listers
I'm sorry about the long subject line. I've not posted for sometime but am now
renewing my researches.
Can anyone tell me if Llanddew and Llanwrthwl are both in the parish of Llanafan Fawr. I
know where Llanwrthwl is (it is a village) but have not managed to find Llanddew and I am
not sure if this is a village or dwelling.
In 1891 would Cwmchwefru be located near to either of these places and is that in the
parish of Llanafan Fawr.
Thank you.
