I feel as if I've been on a journey of allsorts through cyberspace in
search of my family over the last week or so, leaving lots of
information I need to pick up on. I've documented all this on my
blog.
Anyway, I wanted to ask if the records of Caersws Institution are
housed anywhere? Powys Archives? NLW Aberystwyth? Somewhere else,
if anywhere. I'm not sure if these records would be realised though,
because of confidentiality reasons.
My grandmother - Maglona Ashton - was a nurse there, I assume in the
1920s and 1930s, and I would be interested in following this up. I
also know that she was offered the position of matron at a hospital in
London (no idea which one), but she turned it down as her family did
not want her to leave the area. This is all I know of her nursing
history, apart from ancedotes such as lying on the mortuary table to
scare the porter(!), and I would be interested in finding out more, if
that's possible.
Any pointers would be gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Alison
