Hello,
I have just joined this list and this is my first posting. Both my 2x and 3x
Great Grandfathers (both named John Evans) lived in the School House/Old
School House in Forden between at least 1841 and 1901. My question is is
there anyone familiar with Forden's Old School House who could give me some
background on this building? Any info at all related to the School House or
the Evans of Forden would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tony
PS does anyone know why most of Forden is missing from the ancestry.co.uk
1861 census?
Hello Tony,
Have the 1861 for Montgomeryshire but nearly all the relevant piece number,
is missing.
In 1895directory, the schoolmistress for Forden (included under
Montgomery), was Miss M. J. Davies, although it is not stated whether she
lived at the schoolhouse or not. Some earlier directories I have, do not
show the smaller places.
The 1881 census is interesting, in that John and Sarah Evans and family,
living there, and a National School Forden, of which the schoolhouse may
have been a part. Frederick Bransgrove head of school.
