Those of you seeking the Baskervilles at Clyro, and the Rev Venables and
Bevan at Hay in Kilverts time, may wish to know that the new book " Kilvert The
Homeless Heart" by John Toman, has much about these people in the mid and
later 1800's. With many details of the Cornewall family at Moccas Court, who
sold their plantations and released former slaves.....A study of these local
landowners is of much interest now, that was omitted from any of the Clyro
Curate Kilvert's 22 note books, for obvious reasons......
Also, a very interesting study of local Welsh and English National schools
then, and many other social comments re those early days in education for those
with nothing in Bryngwyn and many other Radnorshire areas. It has 404 pages
in all, the best I have seen re these Victorian social matters locally.
