Donald,
Are you certain about Daniel's wife's name? The online LDS IGI at
www.familysearch.org shows christenings that fit (more or less) Thomas ca.1826 and Ann
1828 but the wife's name was Mary WATKIN, according to an LDS church member submission
-- Caution: You'll need to locate records of these christenings yourself - possibly
in the Bishop's Transcripts for Trefeglwys Parish Church - LDS Film #0104590 -- as the
IGI is *not* complete for christenings in this parish -- or branch out and look in
neighboring parishes.
The only reliable christening is for another child, John, with the same parents, also in
Trefeglwys, but not in the parish church. Since this is taken out of an actual register
and not from an LDS church member, I would consider the parents' names to be correct
but you should consult this register (on LDS microfilm) yourself, to check that the names
are as transcribed. The real bonus here is that this entry will also provide a great deal
of information including the date of birth, place of birth (usually the abode and parish),
mother's name and parish before marriage, father's parish, date and place of
christening. The Calvinistic Methodist register form was the only one with so much
information. These details should help you make some progress with the parents, Daniel
MORGAN and Mary WATKIN.
If the parents were "of the parish of Trefeglwys", the marriage would have taken
place in the parish church (only place allowed at that time), probably not too many months
before the birth of John so look in 1822 & 1823 for the marriage in the Bishop's
Transcripts film as listed above. You may be fortunate and find the christenings for
Daniel MORGAN and Mary WATKIN on the same film, as well, but branch out to neighboring
parishes if you don't find them in Trefeglwys.
Another note: Parents were not always consistent with the choice of chapel or parish
church for christenings of their children. You'll find some children christened in a
chapel (Calvinistic Methodist, in this case) while another was christened in the parish
church or a chapel in another parish.
