Thanks
Edward was born in Llanwrin, MGY, so that must be it - as per Hilary's post
too.

Hi Angela,
I think you've spotted something there.
Perhaps 'Maldwyn' symbolised a Montgomeryshire name in the same way that
'Maglona' symbolised a Machynlleth name.
Perhaps like a 'code-name' worn with pride?
Googling 'Maldwyn' brought up:
The Montgomeryshire Society
Sefydlwyd Cymdiethas Maldwyn
cheers, Tony

I too have a grandfather and a greatgrandfather who adopted middle names,
seemingly after they left Wales.
My greatgrandfather Edward JONES adopted Maldwyn as his middle name
sometime
after 1901, but I have only ever seen this documented on his son's
marriage
certificate as I have not yet managed to find his death.
His son David JONES was registered as such, but by the time of his marriage
30 odd years later, he was David Jones JONES.
Nothing like adding confusion!
