Subject: [POWYS] Parish Registers online
Have just got back from Kent -- online that is -- from my continuing
search for Grandfathers brother Thomas William Roberts b 1868 Oswestry who
somehow got himself down to Lewisham where he was married then moved to
Dartford and is seen there for the 1891 and the 1901 and in the trade
directory as a Florist in 1905 but after that time -- nothing - can`t find
him. So as I say I have been to the Kent list - busy, busy, and put an
enquiry on there, received a reply quoting this URL
http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/
which is the Medway Archives website. Absolutely brilliant work they have
done in making available for research the archives of the Medway area of
Kent and also the parish records of north-west Kent. Over 100 parishes
have been included, all records scanned from the start of the registers up
to in some cases the 1970`s and so easy to search. Worth taking a look at
to see what can be achieved and the revenue they must now receive from
such a venture.
Sadly Congregational records aren`t included (are they ever!) so I didn`t
find my family after 1905 which was the object of the exercise. Thomas was
C of E when he left Shropshire but married Nora Annie Williams who was of
the Congregational faith and must have either converted him or put her
foot down and had the children baptised out of my reach!!
Keith Roberts,
Glad to be back from the Kent and London lists ( 60 Emails overnight
Phew!! )
