Alison,
You realise you've just admitted you live 5 miles from Trefeglwys..... ;-)
As for locating the cottage in the photo, be sure to take the list of 1881
Census entries included in my email as it has to be one of those cottages.
Of course, as far as I know there are no thatched cottages left in
Trefeglwys, so any existing dwelling would have an actual roof on it and it
may be a newer one built on old foundations by now.

Julie Preston

Firstly Julie, thanks for alerting us to this picture. A fantastic
find!
I live 5 miles from Trefeglwys, so I guess I'm best placed to research
where it might be. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any
houses that exist in the area like that looks like that, and
especially not thatched.
I do know the picture is definately not Rhyd y Carw which is black and
white / much bigger, plus Geseilfa which is red brick and the complete
wrong shape, plus the picture is lacking stables.
Anyway, will try and get the picture printed off and ask around.
Otherwise I guess another drive around Trefeglwys is in order .... but
I need to stop landing in people's farmyards!
Alison
