Subject: [POWYS] Rev. Jenkins Ceri/Kerry Montgomeryshire
A very kind person found me some information on genuki in a gazeteer
dated
1868 on the late Rev. Jenkins. He is described as an ingenious antiquary
and vicar of this (Ceri/Kerry) parish for many years. As some of you
know I have been looking for my ancestor the Rev. William Marsden Jenkins
who was vicar of Dolfor on his death on the 13th August 1869.
Can anyone tell me the first name of this Rev. Jenkins vicar of
Ceri/Kerry
for many years please?
Rev John Jenkins (1770-1829), known as "Ifor Ceri". Graduated BA from
Merton College, Oxford, 1791; vicar of Kerry 1807-1829. He features in
"Dictionary of Welsh Biography"

As others may already have pointed out, Rev. William Marsden Jenkins
matriculated at Oxford in 1860, aged 19, and was the second son of Richard
Jenkins of Bedwelty, Monmouth (according to 'Alumni Oxonienses'). He was
still listed as curate of Llanllwchaiarn at the publication date of
'Crockford's Clerical Directory', 1868.
