I have been away and am catching up on my emails.
Re the enquiry from Kevin Mantle of Saturday 3rd May, I was researching the
Holmes name in Radnorshire before hitting the brick wall.
'My' John Holmes was born in Radnorshire Llanbad (1851 Census). Glamorgan
FHS identify this as an abbreviation for Llanbadarn, but which one?? Age in
this census was 55, giving a dob about 1796. Married to Jennet.
I have been unable to trace his marriage or death.
Any information or advice on this side of my family would be appreciated.
I also have notes on the following (I have no reason to believe any of
these are part of 'my' Holmes tree):-
John Holmes m. 1770 Glascwm
John Holmes bap 1796 Berriew
John Holmes b. c1761 m. c1792 Berriew
John Holmes bap 1817 Llanidloes, son of Richard Holmes
Richard Holmes b. c1794 Berriew
David Holmes b. c1821 Llanidloes
Kevin, I think the last two would be of interest to you if you don't already
have the info. If you have any further information on your Holmes' in the
Llanidloes area (which isn't that far from one of the Llanbadarns), I would
be pleased to compare notes.
Meanwhile, back to banging my head against that wall ..
John Holmes
