Dear Listers,
I was too quick in diagnosing (wrongly) the reasons for the lack of recent
list activity.
I understand that the recent absence of messages on the Powys List (and
other lists) was due to a 'Denial of Service' attack on Ancestry, that
affected the RootsWeb mailing list servers. It has taken a long time to get
everything back up and running!
Any emails sent to the List during the 'blackout' will have been bounced
back to the sender, so please re-send your message if this has happened to
you.
The same applies if you tried to contact me as list admin at
powys-admin(a)rootsweb.com
However, my earlier remarks about the general decline in the numbers of
messages sent to the Powys List remains valid.
Kind regards,
John

Hi Daphne,
Don't blame your computer for the absence of Powys List messages: no
messages were delivered on the Powys List between 3 June and 26 June.
Additionally, your message sent on 23 June was delayed in transit and was
not received by RootsWeb until 26 June.
The absences of messages on the list is the result of a decline in activity
on the part of members of the List. The number of list members is still only
slightly down compared with five years ago, when the activity averaged
around 100 messages per month.
Kind regards,
