Hi Glenys,
Its very strange that you mention Lechfaen as my great, great grandfather
Evan Maddy and his wife Elizabeth were living in Lechfaen in the 1871
Census.
Evan died in 1873 and Elizabeth moved to Cross Oaks Llanfigan to her son
Samuel Lewis's house at Derwengroes.
My husband and I went to see Derwengroes, Cross Oaks last year and we have
also visited Lechfaen in past years. We found out that the house that Evan
and Elizabeth lived in was pulled down only a few years ago. It was in a
block of about 6 little cottages. There were a couple still being lived in
a little further along so we were able to see what they would have looked
like.
Hope you get round to Bury St. Edmunds. Its a lovely market town. Get
there before they put up the new Shopping Centre because we think the
planners are going to spoil Bury St. Edmunds. It was such an old
interesting town with a lovely cattle market which has now gone.
Best wishes
