Does anyone have information on the Cornwall Farm stated to be Llanfigan
(and a few other spellings)? I understand it is near Brecon. The David
PRITCHARD family was there circa 1841-1851. They are listed as (R)ichard on
the 1841 Census. Thank you for any information.

Dear John,
Cornwall Farm is situated near Pencelly in the parish of Llanfigan
(Llanfeugan) about five miles southeast of the town of Brecon. It is about
three fields away from the parish church, dedicated to St Meugan - see:
www.cpat.demon.co.uk/projects/longer/churches/brecon/16850.htm
You can call up a highly detailed (1:10,560-scale) late 19th century (1891)
map of this area by going to the Old Maps website at
www.old-maps.co.uk/
On the main page, click on the illustration which states "Click here to
begin your search". On the search page which appears, enter 309200 and
224300 into the co-ordinates search fields and click the GO button
alongside.
When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarge Map" icon on the
right-hand tab. A highly detailed map of the area will open in a new window,
centred on Cornwall Farm.
Cornwall Farm is also identified on the modern UK Ordnance Survey
'Landranger' 1:50,000-scale map (sheet 161). You can see the relevant
3-kilometre square section of this map at the Streetmaps website
www.streetmap.co.uk/
In the search section near the top of the Streetmaps homepage, select the
'OS Grid' option, enter 309200,224300 into the search field and click the
Search button. If necessary, change to the Landranger map format by clicking
the area midway between the [+] and [-] zoom buttons at bottom right of the
map.
You'll see Cornwall Farm identified by name in the centre square of the map.
The entry in the 1881 census indicates that the farm then covered 80 acres.
Kind regards,
John
