Mike John subscribed, posted that email about the IGI, then unsubscribed within a few
hours.
The IGI problem with assuming Welsh patronymic names occurs only before 1813 -- I think
Mike indicated 1818 or something else.
There are still cases where some baptisms pre-1813 actually are shown correctly but
I've seen clear surnames that are indexed with the father's forename.
There should be some better explanation within the GENUKI pages for Wales:

Still, I don't see the possibility of the IGI being changed -- that would take a
phenomenal amount of time and effort.

I read the post about reversing Welsh names in the IGI, so I looked up John Ward as John
Samuel since that was his father's forename. But why are all the John Samuels listed
as having fathers who are also surnamed Samuel? Wouldn't it say John Samuel, father
Samuel William? I am confused now?
