Thanks for the response Julie. For the first time, I didn't receive John
Ball's always welcome notification of the latest images on his Retrospectibe
Images of Wales, so I wondered if something had gone wrong with the list, or
my settings. Evidently not, though I did miss John!

Hi Norman,
(Copying the Powys list so others can follow this thread...see Norman's
email to me below...)
I noticed your subscription and your posting -- there's nothing wrong with
that part but the list has, indeed, gone very quiet, along with many of the
other Welsh lists of late. You're welcome to have a look at our archives
and see the fluctuation in the level of activity -- we were actually quite
busy last month -- and there was 1 message posted to the list today you
should've received:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/Powys/
I suspect the warmer weather and many outdoor chores are keeping people
occupied this month. Also, with so many other sources now available
(Ancestry, "findmypast", etc.), we're no longer the only game in town.
Once
people subscribe to one of those sites, they find themselves delving into
many more lines, outside of the Welsh ancestry -- before they know it,
they're out of control! Eventually, they come back to the list and there
are always newcomers, as well.
I had hoped someone who frequents the Powys Archives Office would respond to
your query and that may still happen. Meanwhile, you can actually email
them and request a lookup for a nominal fee -- suggest you go ahead since no
one has stepped up: archives(a)powys.gov.uk

Your enthusiasm was palpable -- I'm in the U.S. but wish I could've helped!
;-)
Kind regards,
Julie Preston
