Margaret,
He could have sailed from Liverpool and arrived in Grosse Isle, Quebec. If
you know his death date, I can get you his death registration in B. C.

Your ancestor was a smart man to head to Kamloops, a beautiful area. I
believe all the records that remain are in Ottawa. There were several
collecting points along the way up the St Lawrence. Regardless, I have heard
that many of the ship documents to Canada were lost in a fire but I would be
looking in Ottawa if I were you. Best of luck.

Hi everyone,
Thomas Jones, one of my ancestors left Wales about 1888 to sail to Canada.
He was born in Llangurig, Montgomeryshire but I think I have found him
working as an "Iron baller" and lodging in Merthyr Tydfil in 1881. I am
hoping someone can tell me from which port he would be likely to have sailed
and also where he would disembark on arrival in Canada. His final
destination was the Kamloops area of British Columbia and I will be grateful
for any help and suggestions.
Regards,
Margaret Harvey
