Just had a quick look in the British Newspaper Archive, three adverts
in
1844,
1851 and 1877 (might be more). All for a married couple, at least
one
specified that to be without children.
In 1851 they were replacing Mr & Mrs Joseph Jones who had resigned. The
Master got £49 a year and the Matron £20
More adverts in 1855, 1847 also for both positions.
Might explain why little on the Matron.
