Mary Humphreys aged 28 was found guilty of larceny at the Montgomery County Sessions held
on 3 Jan 1839 and sentenced to 1 month in gaol.
You might details if you search newspaper records say at the National Library of Wales

Hi Folks,
On my 2 x great grandfather John Richard HUMPHREYS' Baptism record in
Montgomery on the 11th January 1839 is a curious parent's Abode comment:
"Meifod, but now Prisoner in the County Gaol." Presumably this too was
in Montgomery.
His parents were Robert (a farmer) and Mary HUMPHREYS. Please can
anyone tell me why he may have been there? Political
unrest/criminality? I'm assuming it's the father in trouble.
The on-line catalogue section of Archive Wales is currently not
available.
