Thanks to you all for your welcome and support.
Can I echo the thanks to John for all his hard and continuous work over the
ten years. His handover to me has shown the same meticulousness and
helpfulness as you've all seen publicly over the years. I hope I can live up
to his high standards, with your help. As John has said, he will continue to
be a member and we will value his further contributions.
I've been a member of this list for many years, long before so many
resources became available on the web, and the knowledge shared here has
been of great help and interest to me. My family history interests only
touch on the north of Powys (which is why I joined originally) but the
general family history and local history and geographical knowledge
contributed to the list has kept me a member, even though I gave up some
other less fruitful lists long ago. My contributions haven't been all that
frequent but I have read most of what everyone else has sent, which I'm sure
is the case for many of you.
I now live in Meirionnydd, where a lot of my family originate, so the
knowledge of those of you living in or knowing Powys well will be very much
still needed. I hope I can contribute in other ways to the discussions.
However, the list depends on people taking the first step - to ask a
question, to share knowledge - so that discussions can start. Please keep on
posting and let's make September also a good month - though it will be hard
to beat August's 75 messages, or will it?
Rhian
