Diolch yn fawr , John. I plan to go to the NLA to check out the 1841
Census. Do you have any tips on finding this area SW of Llanidloes
apart from trial and error?

Cofion cynnes, John, such a quick response is much appreciated. The
map is a great help. Any ideas on how I can find out more about
Pentre?

Dear Joy,
A Google search on the postal code may reveal the present occupant
of what
is now 'Pentre House'.
I suggest you check for the same address in the 19th century censuses,
back to 1841. The relevant entries should indicate the size of the
farm,
and what kind of farming was involved.
Kind regards,
John
