I have now got to the stage of finding a Mrs. Sarah FRANCE (wife of John
FRANCE):
In 1841 she is in Bridgnorth and says she was born in the county (SAL)
From 1851-1881 inclusive she gives her place of birth as Radnorshire.
In
1871 she only says that. In the other 3 censuses she says what looks like:
Penslant, Penstrant and Llanducy.

Dear Sherry,
According to my searches, admittedly brief, Sarah gives her birthplace as
follows:
1851 - Radnorshire
1861 - Radnorshire, Penbont (or Penybont)
1871 - Can't find a Sarah France born anywhere in Wales
1881 - Radnorshire, Llanduey - which I agree is probably Llanddewi Ystradenni
Penybont is between Crossgates and Llandegley, about 3 miles south of
Llanddewi Ystradenni - see Streetmaps website at:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=310937&Y=267323&A=Y&Z=126
Penybont is in the Radnorshire parish of Llanbadarn Fawr. I quote from the
National Gazetteer of 1868:
----------
PEN-Y-BONT, a hamlet in the parish of Llanbadarn-Fawr, hundred of
Cefnllys, county Radnor, 8 miles S.E. of Rhayader, and 7 W. by N. of
Radnor. It is situated at the new bridge on the river Ithon. The principal
residence is Pen-y-Bont Hall of the Severns. In the vicinity is Llandegley
Spa.
