In the catalogue of the Jeffrey & Powell papers (Powys Archives) in the "Thomas
Powell of Maescar Bundle" there is a reference (B/D/JPO/17/41) to a Will of MORGAN
DAVIES, Gent, of Llandingat, Carms, dated 12 Feb 1797 in which he left his personal
estate to his wife Mary and "£200 to my neice Ann, wife of THOMAS POWELL of Blane Car
in Devynnock", £50 to nephew REVD EVAN MORGAN, £125 to nephew THOMAS MORGANS,
saddler, and £125 to nephew MORGAN MORGAN of Graiggoch etc",
Another entry in the catalogue is the Will of Margaret Lewelin, widow of Morgan Lewelin,
of Llywel dated 2 July 1789 who left bequests to her son Evan Morgan, clerk, grandson
WATKIN EDWARD of Llywel and her son-in-law Thomas Powell of parish of Devynnock. This
appears to be a case of patronymics, and I wonder if they are also the parents of the
other nephews and neice
My ancestor Morgan Morgan (1759-1816) was farming at Graiggoch, Llywel from at least 1792,
so I am anxious to prove a link to this family as I have hit a brickwall. I know that a
number of people are researching the Powell family of this area in particular, and wonder
if anyone has a link to any of the people mentioned.
Thank you
Hywel
