Denise,
I am by no means an expert at using archives, but I have visited the
National Archive at Kew on several occasions. I have consulted items held
on microfilm, computer database and original documents.
On each occasion I have found the staff very helpful and, whilst I did feel
a little daunted on my first visit, happily my fears were proved groundless.
I would say, "Go for it".
The staff are there to help and I would advise admitting to them that you
are on your first visit and unsure of the procedures. You will find that
they are more than pleased to help you.
Happy Hunting,
David Evans
