Richard Bell Jones, born Penderyn 1903, is a distant relative of
mine. His obituary in 1990 states that he was formerly headmaster of
Caerphilly Boys' Grammar Technical School. However a footnote to a
copy of examination results from Aberdare Boys' County School in 1918
says that "Richard Bell Jones from Penderyn left school in 1920 for
UC Cardiff. He became General manager of Aberdare UDC Transport
Department. His name was painted on the side of each bus. " See:

The two careers seem a slightly odd combination, though I suppose it
is possible. Can anybody cast any light on this, and more to the
point, does anyone have a picture of an Aberdare bus showing his name?
