Hello listers, and thank you for adding me to the group :)
My great-uncle and his wife emigrated from Southampton to New Zealand in
1952; on the passenger list, they gave their last address as Woodlands
Café, Llandrindod Wells, Radnorshire. Prior to this, I had found them in
the 1939 Register, living in Bristol, so its a bit of a surprise to
discover they were in Wales!
Im wondering if listers could help me with 2 things:
1. Is there a site or repository where I might find street directories
or telephone directories for Llandrindod Wells for the time period of the
early 1950s?
2. I would really appreciate any pointers to dig up some information
about the café, such as where I might look for title deeds, or land records,
purchase of the café (if indeed they did buy it!), etc.
This is my first foray into Welsh research, so Im a bit lost; I did trawl
through the list archives but didnt find anything that might help my little
puzzle, and Ive tried some Google searches but I think my search parameters
are very flawed! :) So any help you might be able to give will be
wonderful!
Thank you in advance :)
