Dear John,
I was especially touched with the fact that Tommy Farr's impressive monument
was purchased by him for his parents. One would assume it had been created
for him.
I visited Trealaw in 2008 to find the grave of my 2nd great grandfather
Henry Thomas. Trealaw Cemetery is beautifully situated on a hillside and
Tommy Farr's monument is quite lovely and easily seen from all directions.

Retrospectives: Cwmafan (Cwmavon), GLA; and Trealaw Cemetery, Rhondda, GLA
Dear Listers,
This week's Retrospectives, just uploaded onto my website, are:
1. The former coalmining town of Cwmafan (Cwmavon), near Port Talbot in the
county of Glamorgan (five pictures).
This feature was first shown on 'Images of Wales' in January 1999.
2. Trealaw Cemetery in the Rhondda Valley, county of Glamorgan (five
pictures). This two-page feature includes the story of Welshman Tommy Farr,
who fought Joe Louis in 1937 for the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship.
The original version of this feature was first shown on 'Images of Wales' in
December 1997.
As usual, these webpages will be displayed on my website for one week.
'Retrospective Images of Wales' is at
www.jlb2005.plus.com/walespic/retro/retro.htm
After viewing the Retrospectives, please explore my 'Webpage Archive' and
make your own Retrospective requests.
Kind regards,
John
