Does anyone know when all transportation finally ended?
My grandfather's brother, Arthur TROW was born 1852 in Kerry MGY but
disappears after the 1861 census. I did find a record on Ancestry of
"Arthur Rudge also called Trow" who was convicted for the "3rd time
or more" in Nov 1886 in Stafford for armed Night Poaching. Under the
1828 Night Poaching Act, a third offence was punishable by
transportation. This sanction wasn't repealed until 1888 so I'm
wondering if Arthur was packed off to Australia.
