Field Marshall Lord Roberts of Khandahar VC was his full title, visiting
the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in their HQ and others in Wrexham it seems. He
was also in the Boar War in South Africa, and died after a visit to the
Western Front in France after 1914. Try Wikipedia for more info. Yrs, Dennis

Can anyone help me with this.
In April 1903 a Lord Roberts visited Wrexham and there was a holiday given
to the schools.
Would this be the same man? . Did he have a connection to Wrexham or just
on
a general tour.
If it wasn`t him , who would it have been ?.
"One of the most outspoken critics of Britain's military deterioration was
Field-Marshal Lord Roberts, who had commanded British troops in South
Africa
and served as commander-in-chief of the Army from 1901 to 1904. Roberts was
president of the National Service League."
