If you google Google Books & then search for Neville Abergavenny you will find loads
of info including very detailed pedigrees. Lucky you - it's a very well documented
family.

i Ellen,
Type "nevill family abergavenny" into Google and at lot of sites come up.
Further more, if you bring up the Internet Archive website and search for
Abergavenny", a number of books come up which will include history of the
own and of county families. Search each of these books individually for
evill.
Hope this helps,
Hilary

Hello, Ruth and Listers,
If anyone has time, would you please check those ancient books on Welsh
entry and send some info or resources on the Nevilles from Abergavenny?
My Aunt married a Ralph Nevill. Apparently many were named Ralph or
andolphus...Their son is also named Ralph.
he has always remarked that her Ralph was descended from these aristocratic
evilles, but his line couldn't afford the e on the end!
My Aunt is now 97, and asked me last week for information. I've given her
ictures and histories in the past, but she has lost them now with her move
o a Care Home. (This tiny feisty woman was keeping her wood stove burning
n her house up the mountain, until 2 years ago. After a heart attack the
octor would not allow her back home).
Please help if you can. I'll print off the responses, and take her a little
ooklet when I visit her mid-July. (She lives 3 hours away).
Thanks from Ellen

i Hilary
You are lucky to have ancestors who were gentry! Their monuments, Wills etc
re so much better than those of ordinary folk.
Following up your source, Theophilus Jones, I looked him up in the
onderful, fantastic Google Books, & found that the whole of his History of
recknockshire is there for all to read. By adding Talgarth to my search
ords, I found on page 334, not only the Latin you quoted (BTW correctly
ritten on the tablet) but also mentions of memorials of other members of
he same family - Williams, Delahay etc. If you haven't done so already,
ave a look at page 334 & the next page or two.
The Latin tablet is - or was - above the door of the porch. Perhaps someone
ocal to Talgarth may know if it is still there.
All the best
Ruth
