Can anyone shed light on what appear to be almost impossible dates?
David Jones born 1809 in Llangwystennin and married Ann born 1802 in
Llansanatfriad.
At age 29, Ann had son John, born in Llansanatfriad
At age 39, Ann had son Benjamin in Llangwystenin
At age 53, Ann had daughter Anne in Llangwystennin
I contemplate that Ann was married before and had son John, then moved to
Llanwystennin to marry David Jones.
But how about her age when Anne was born?
Family legend has it that Ann was nicknamed "Nain gegin" (Kitchen grandmother)
and that the meaning of that name was "midwife" (can anyone verify
that?)....but the house they lived in was named "Gegin Cottage" so that could
be the reason she was called Nain Gegin....I just thought that as a midwife,
is there a possiblity she may have taken in babies after a mother died?
I guess I should pursue birth certificates of these 3 children and see if they
shed light on the matter.
