Hello fellow researchers -
In researching my 10th great grandfather, John Price I, b. ca 1584, there are
several conflicts and unanswered questions. Some records indicate he was
married to a Mary (surname unknown) in Wales and they had a son, Mathewes, b.
ca either 1615 or 1626 - that's just one of the conflicts. John I is
supposed to have come to the Colony of Virginia in 1620 aboard the Starr,
with Mary following at a later date. Mary died in 1622, possibly in the
Jamestown Massacre. Another conflict: Ann Matthews is reported to have to
come to Jamestown either in 1620 as John's wife, or aboard the Bonadventure
in 1623 as a seventeen year old, and married John after Mary's death. It
almost sounds like two different sets of Johns. Some reports say John and
Mary did not have Mathewes, but John and Ann had John II. I'm trying to
determine if either or both John II and Mathewes are historical and who their
mother was and well as which one was the father of John III. Also trying to
figure which parts of the rest of the story are correct. Any answers or
suggestions? Does anybody know exactly where John I was born? Will
appreciate any and all information as always, will be happy to share what I
have.
