Hi everyone,
Lloyd Lewis lloyd.lewis(a)virgin.net has recently volunteered to do lookups
in a 2-vol. (book) publication:
Religious Census of 1851, a Calendar of Returns Relating to Wales By Ieuan
Gwynedd
Jones & David Williams. This covers the whole of Wales and Monmouth,
listing each Church &
Chapel with details of the number attending, Welsh or English Services,
and remarks by the
person filling in the form as to re-building, and extracts from Lewis on
tythes and endowments
etc.
I requested a lookup myself for several parishes in Cardiganshire, and want
to share Lloyd's reply (below) so that you can get an idea of the kind of
information this source provides. I've been researching these parishes for
about 10 years, and was very pleased to learn details that aren't available
elsewhere.
This has been posted on the All Wales page, which can be accessed from
either the Mid-Wales Lookup Exchange at:
http://www.johngareth.freeserve.co.uk/johngareth.html
or from the South/Wales Lookup Exchange at:
http://www.johngareth.freeserve.co.uk/lookup.html .
Best regards,
Julie Preston
