Hello Janaya
At least I can tell you which the parish is. It must be
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, which is the only parish called Llanrhaeadr in
Montgomeryshire. Famous beauty spot about 12 miles west of Oswestry.
Llanfyllin is a town just to the south.
Hello John (and Janaya),
Not wishing to start a border dispute <g> - but, for family history
purposes, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant is usually considered to have been
in pre-1974 Denbighshire.
In fact, it was partly in Montgomeryshire and partly in Denbighshire;
but the parish church was in Denbighshire. The parish registers and
various other records have therefore been deposited in the
Denbighshire Record Office at Ruthin.
When civil registration began in 1837, Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant was
included in the Llanrhaeadr sub-district of the Llanfyllin
Registration District - and the parish of Llanfyllin was entirely
within Montgomeryshire. It all adds to the confusion!
