Tracing Mary Ann Jarman, who was born at Machynlleth c.1868.
Does anyone have any info on this family?
Hi Annette Williams -"David J. Williams" <davjeff(a)ukonline.co.uk>
I have John Ashton b. 2Feb.1835, reputed organist at Maengwyn Chapel,
Machynlleth, & described as self-employed bootmaker of Llanbrynmair.
His grandfather was Valentine Ashton, 1773-1845, married to Martha Jarman,
1777-1855, of Glangwden farm, Trefeglwys, where Jarman's still farm today.
Valentine's Gt grandfather, John Ashton, 1667-1732, of Ffinant in the
parish of Trefeglwys (possibly 'Geseilfa' farm?), also married a Mary
(Richards) Jarman. Much of this is in the Richard Bennett papers at the
National Library of Wales, microfilmed by the Church of LDS. John's will
seems to show he was also married to Esther Benbow and left £10 to his
step-daughter Anne benbow.
Can anyone help me with John Ashton's father & ancestors?
2000: best wishes
Tony
