There are two possible sources I can suggest
a) Write to Dr Arturo L. ROBERTS of Ninnau. He now lives in the U.S.A. but
is a native of Patagonia and an expert on it.
His email address is:- 73541.2554(a)compuserve.com.
He will accept correspondence in English or Welsh.
b) Albina JONES de ZAMPINI's book "Reunion de famillas en el Sur" gives
many
family trees of early
Welsh settlers in Patagonia. I enclose a few details below.

Subject: HUGHES of Bala & other emigrants to Patagonia
Does anyone recognise this family?
Winifred HUGHES (of Bala, Merionethshire) married a JONES and had 2 known
children:
Lumley JONES and Eliza JONES.
She emigrated to Patagonia in 1863 aboard the 'Mimosa'. We do not know if
she travelled with her husband JONES or if she was already a widow and
emigrated with her own HUGHES family. We do know, however, that she
remarried (probably within c.2 years) to John MORGAN (c.1835-c.1918) of
Pwllglas, in the parish of Llanfihangel Geneu'r Glyn in Cardiganshire.
There were 3 named HUGHES who settled at the same time and held land in
Chubut, Patagonia, i.e. Thomas, Hugh J, and Hugh HUGHES. There were only
2 named JONES, i.e. David and Griffith.
Hugh John HUGHES native of Ffestiniog, arrived Patagonia in 1874 as a
bachelor
Wife Mary THOMAS, native of Bangor, arrived Patagonia in 1865 aboard
"Mimosa" aged 6
They raised 14 children, were members of Moriah Chapel, buried in Trelew
Cemetery, Argentina
(page 97 of Reunion)
The following HUGHES entries appear in the colony's register:
10 Jun 1865 (aboard the Mimosa): William HUGHES married Annie LEWIS (of
Abergynolwyn)
29 Dec 1865: Anne, their daughter, born in Tre Rawson
5 Aug 1865 in Puerto Madryn: Henry aged 17 months, son of John HUGHES of
Llanuwchlyn, died
John HUGHES arrived in Chubut 1865 with his young brother Griffith HUGHES,
his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) JONES and two sons William John aged 12 and John
Samuel (nearly 2 years old). The family were from Llanuwchllyn (but had come
from Rhosllanerchrugog according to the chronicle of Abraham MATTHEWS).There
are 4 children of John and Elizabeth HUGHES shown in the family tree
including Henry who died as a baby.
John and Elizabeth lived in "Glyn Llifon", Moriah and were members of Moriah
chapel
(page 99 of Reunion ...)
15 Nov 1865 in Puerto Madryn: Elizabeth aged 4, daughter of John HUGHES
of Llanuwchlyn, died
9 Oct 1866: Gwen Anne, dau. of Griffith HUGHES of Llanuwchlyn was born
and died on the same day.
There is a tree of the descendents of David Griffith HUGHES (1858- 1931
approx) and his wife Elizabeth JONES (1864-1922) on page 93. There are 8
children on the family tree.
Elizabeth arrived at Patagonia in 1886 aboard the "Vesta". D.G. HUGHES
arrived in 1865 with his parents ( they were natives of Llanuwchllyn who
had lived for some time in Rhosllanerchrugog)
D.G. Griffiths and his wife are buried in Moriah cemetery, Argentina (page
93 of Reunion)
13 Mar 1866: John (no surname given of Llanuwchlyn) died of tuberculosis
aged 31
The settlement at Chabut was divided into 21 lots and allocated as
follows:
1. John MORGAN
2. Griffith PRICE
3. David JONES
4. Hugh J HUGHES
5. William DAVIES
6. Griffith JONES
7. John W READE
8. Hugh HUGHES
9. Thomas HUGHES
10. John DAVIES
11. John ROBERTS
12. Lewis BURRELL
13. Ebenezer BURRELL
14. William WILLIAMS
15. David DAVIES
16. Richard MORGAN
17. John PUGH
18. Morgan MORGANS
19. Richard GRIFFITHS
20. Robert MOULSDALE
We would be most grateful to hear from anyone who might be able to tell us
anything about this HUGHES/JONES family, or who may be connected to the
John MORGAN line.
