Dear All,
I wonder if anybody with (very) arcane military knowledge, or access to
PRO ?open shelves, can furnish me with an answer to this one?
I have copies of the following two short, cryptic letters, their texts
quoted in their entirety, sent from & to a Regimental HQ in Lancashire,
England:
I. 13 Jul 1921; from Infantry Record Office, Preston,to The Secretary,
War Office:
"With reference to Para 1929 (xiv), King's Regulations, 1912, I have the
honour to forward the original Attestation and Army Form B.204, relative
to the soldier named in the margin, having in view the reply to Question
6 of Army Form B.2529."
II. 22 Sep 1921; from D.A.A.G. to o i/c, Infantry Record Office,
Preston:
"With reference to your X/312 of the 13th July, 1921, the original
Attestation and Army Form B.204 in respect of [name not reproduced here]
of 7th Bn, The Lancashire Fusiliers (Defence Force), are returned
herewith. Your attention is invited to No. 24 Circular of Decisions of
1921, Sub-No. 425."
Thanks to a local Regimental Museum's library, I have read King's Regs.
1912 and can translate 'Para.1929(xiv)'. X/312 is easy, it's the
'header' to the first letter. Unfortunately, KR's do not contain blank
Army Forms, as I hoped they would.
So, what do Army Forms B.204 and B.2529 look like; and what was question
6 on the latter? Also, where on earth might I find No. 24 Circular,
Sub-No. 425 of Decisions of 1921??
BTW, DAAG= Deputy Assistant Adjutant General, or third in line of *all
Army paper- pushers, anywhere.
Any help/pointers/sympathy gratefully received,
Trevor (York, where the river has only risen 14 feet above normal, so
far!)
