I have been a mamber of this list for some time & this is my first post. John Ball got
me involved & yes John I am one of those 400 that just sit back & read all posts
without comment.
Now I would like to note my reseach & ask for the super sleuths contribution. With
John's help (off list) he located my Grandfather Benjamen Joseph born in Talgarth in
1876. BMD records indicate his father was George Henry Prosser & mother Catherine
Morris, married 24/5/1873.
Census records have George Henry born All Saints, Hereford about 1849. Records from
FamilySearch.org show Christening March 1849, so I wood assume birth sometime before
this.
In 1851 Hereford Census George Henry had a sister, I have the birth certificate &
parents are noted as Joseph Prosser & mother Harriett Cheese. Records show Joseph
Prosser is born in Hay, Breconshire & marriage claims Joseph is a widower when married
in Breinton, Hereford, 9/2/1847.
The 1841 census has Joseph Prosser at home with family age 23 in Broad St, Hay,
Breconshire.
I would like to find George Henry's birth certificate to confirm parents as it seems
likely George was brought up by Harriett & it is possible she was not his mother. If
in fact Joseph was a widower I would like to know who his first wife was & if there
were any children from this marriage.
I beleive Parish Records are on Microfishe ion the Powys Archives, I cannot access them on
Computer. Are they available on the Net or will I order them at FamilySearch.org? here in
OZ?
Other suggestion are most welcome.
And for those Cuckoo watchers ours appear in Sept/Oct (Spring) from Indonesia.
Thank you for any assistance.
