Hi Emma
In answer to your question in England and Wales civil registration of
births, marriages and deaths began simultaneously in 1837. However, don't be
surprised if you don't find all your births registered. Up until 1874 there
was no penalty for failing to register and so people sometimes didn't. I've
only come across one in my family so far.
Kind regards

Just wondering when compulsory births, marriages and deaths
registration
was
brought in in England and Wales (and Scotland too, if anyone knows)
and if
the date was the same for all three or whether the compulsory registration
of births, for example was brought in at a different time.
Best wishes, Emma.
