Hi everyone,
I have just seen my previous e-mail come through the Powys list and it has
made me realise that I am in danger of taking far too much for granted in my
research. Some members of Powys F.H.S. members have given their time to
transcribe original films so that the CDs for Breconshire, Montgomeryshire
and Radnorshire can be produced. I am sure that their own research has had
to be put on hold while this has been done. I have done a little
transcribing for the village where I live and even though the place names
and surnames were English it was still a difficult task and very time
consuming. I would like to take this opportunity through the Powys list to
say a big thank you to everyone involved in the production of these CDs and
the numerous booklets issued by the society. They are a wonderful aid to
research but I must remember the time and effort that has been put into the
production.
I have belonged to the Powys F.H.S. for two years, I only started my
research in January 1999 but have realise that I came to it at just the
right time with so much available for the family historian. I would urge
anyone with ancestors in Powys to join the Powys F.H.S. You will in return
for a small annual fee receive three issues a year of the Cronicl Powys, an
excellent magazine always chock full of interesting articles and
information. In addition there is always the anticipation of perhaps
discovering a "new" relative among the Members Interests.
My very best wishes to everyone for a peaceful 2002. I hope you all have
great success with your research and good luck to everyone accessing the
1901 Census on line on 2nd January. I know where I will be at 9.00 am on
that day!
Regards,
Margaret Harvey
